Categories: Engineering, Utility PlantThis position will be working with the PI team on GSOCs real-time data historians and data management systems for both Control Centers, GSOC, GTC, and OPC associates and all other ECS customers.This position assists with the design, implementation, and technical support of the Real-Time Data Portal, the Plant Information (PI) historian, the Alarm and Events reporting application, and the IT Monitor application. This team is responsible for ensuring that all pertinent real-time data is being reliably captured in the PI historian and that data is being transferred to billing, to critical ECS applications, and to other support applications. This team is responsible for ensuring that adequate tools exist for the analysis of data, the display of historical information, and for training of data users for the Family of Companies.This individual will assist other team members in ensuring the integrity of all PI data, ensuring the security of the PI system, and ensuring that all data is backed up in accordance with ECS Security polices.The PI engineering team is responsible for the performance, backup, maintainability, and for resolving any and all problems related to the PI Systems, and shall respond to any problems regardless of the time of day or the day of the week.Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering as a minimum. BSEE is preferred. Experience: Four (4) years experience with real-time data management systems is required. Three (3) years experience with an electric utilitys Energy Management System (EMS) is required. Experience with an XA21 EMS is highly desirable. A minimum of three (3) years experience data historians is required. Two (2) years of experience working with OSI PI systems is desirable. Experience with web portal design and maintaining a web portal is extremely desirable. Experience with Microsoft Share Point Portal is very desirable. Additional experience in Project Management, System Security, Application and System Design, Programming, Testing, and Deployment and Support is desirable.Licenses: MCSE and PI Administration Level II Certifications are a plus.Specialized Skills: Expertise in a variety of programming languages is desirable. Expertise in at least two of the following VB.Net, VBA, Unix, Windows Scripting, SQL, or JAVA is an absolute must. MS Project expertise is highly desirable.Expertise in four of the following is required: OSI PI, Microsoft SQL Server, Unix, and Windows 98/NT/2000/2003/XP Professional.Excellent organization skills and customer/team communications skills are needed to be successful.We Are An Equal Opportunity Employer.Requirements: Real-Time Data: Assist the PI Engineering team in the design, implementation, and technical support of the Real-Time Data Portal, the Plant Information (PI) historian and associated 3rd party systems, the Alarm and Events reporting application, and IT Monitor, the system responsible for monitoring the health of all the systems and applications in the Energy Control Systems and Telecommunications departments. This individual may be responsible for designing work flow processes. This individual will assist in the designing and managing the processes that ensures maximized performance of all PI related systems and applications.Procurement: This position will assist with recommending, preparing specifications, and preparing purchase requisitions for all hardware, software, maintenance agreements associated with these systems, and retaining the services of consultants.Data Retention: This position will be partially responsible for ensuring that all data is retained and destroyed in accordance with GSOCs Data Retention and Destruction policies.Support: This position will assist with the resolution of problems related to Real-Time Data Portal, the Plant Information (PI) historian and associated 3rd party systems, the Alarm and Events reporting application, and IT Monitor. If asked will assist the 24x7 Support team and assists associates, contractors, and vendors during problem resolution efforts in a manner that maximizes the availability of all Real-Time data systems.
